Marc Jacobs Fashions

On April 9,1963 in New York City, the American fashion designer Marc Jacobs was born. At an early age, his grandmother taught him how to knit. Later on, at the age of fifteen he started working as a stock boy at the Charivarl boutique in New York City. In addition, he attended Parsons The New School of Design in New York.

At this time, he lived in Teaneck, New Jersey with his mother, brother, and sister and attended the Teaneck Public High School. While enrolled at Parsons he met Perry Ellis, while still at the age of fifteen. Soon afterward, a twenty-one year old Marc Jacobs won the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award in 1984.

During his time spent at Parsons, he additionally started designing and selling. One of the most notable creations was his knitted sweaters. His trails of success lead to his first professional designing assignment with the Reuben Thomas, Inc. under the Sketchbook label. Following his graduation from the Parsons school, he started working for Perry Ellis International.

Following the death of Perry Ellis, Marc Jacobs continued with his venture to create a line of clothing under his own name. With the support of Onward Kashiyama USA, this became possible. In 1986, his first clothing line launched under his name. Furthermore, the Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded him with the Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.

Primarily, Marc Jacobs created grunge collections, while working at Perry Ellis International. In 1989 he started working with the Tristan Russo label as the Vice President. This line of clothing was exclusively for women. Shortly afterward in 1994, Marc Jacobs was awarded the Women’s Designer of the Year award through the Council of Fashion Designers. After a large amount of success with women’s wear, he decided in 1994 to release his first collection of men’s fashion.

In general, most of the designs from Marc Jacobs consist of a large amount of detail. He thinks more out of the box and likes to create a mixture of clothing types. For instance, his jackets are generally cropped and have a lot of details such as oversized buttons and small pockets. Other types of jackets that he is known for are dress jackets, which come in velvets and other sorts. Some of the times he also adds things like sequins as well. Most of his jackets you can find in a number of different colors and styles, including his denim line.

Another thing that Marc Jacobs is known for is his shoes. They are sexy, but not too much. In any case, they are feminine and make the statement that you want. As for the clothes in general, most of the time many of the lines are vintage looking, or clean. With all of his clothing lines there is always a large amount of attention that is paid to the detail within the clothes. Additionally, many use a number of different fabrics as well.

Currently, Marc Jacobs continues to work with the Louis Vuitton clothing line. In addition, he released another menswear line in 2001 called Marc. Ultimately, it is aimed towards more of a younger age and offers style at a cheaper price.
